PSP Go box

The price of the PSP Go could drop significantly in coming weeks, according to recent comments by Sony insiders. When the smaller, sliding version of Sony's handheld came to market last year, we were astonished that it carried a $249 price tag. Even though the portable game and media device comes with a decent 16GB of on-board flash storage, it was still priced higher than other competing devices like the iPhone and Zune HD, which arguably contain much more cutting edge technology.

Apple iPad

John Koller, Director of Hardware Marketing for Sony, has a difficult job. Every time a competitor releases a wicked-cool piece of technology, Koller has to go on record about what his company plans to do to respond to this new product. Whether it is the Zune HD, Nintendo DSi, or the shiny new Apple iPad, Koller is the first person journalists turn to in order to gauge Sony's response. Unfortunately, Koller has apparently run out of smart things to say, because his latest comment about Apple's new touch-screen tablet device is downright retarded. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Koller suggested that the success of the iPad will actually help Sony sell more PSPs, because apparently what consumers are going to want after they grow bored of their $500 tablet device, is a last-generation plastic handheld game machine.

psp phone
When it was introduced last year, the Skype functionality on PSP was welcomed by fans. Although there had been rumors Sony was working on a PSP phone, this was the next best thing. The voice over IP service allows you to make phone calls anywhere in the world from your PSP as long as you are connected to a wireless hotspot. Even better, calls to other Skype users are FREE, and prices for regular calls are way lower than calling with a regular phone.

No new GTA-game in 2010?
December 4, 2009 - Take-Two won't rush along its next Grand Theft Auto title to turn a quick profit.

During a company conference call, Chairman Strauss Zelnick stressed the company doesn't need to release a major Grand Theft Auto title every year to be profitable. He also applauded the efforts of Rockstar Games for experimenting with the franchise on different platforms, such as Xbox LIVE and handhelds.

Dante's Inferno Demo is Consoles exclusive!
Dante's Inferno
might have been pushed into 2010, but publisher Electronic Arts promises that gamers will get a chance to get a taste of the game this year. Unfortunately, that promise doesn't include PSP owners, because the demo will be for the console version only. It seems that similarly to other multiplatform releases, development of the PSP version has taken a back seat to the handheld game. This makes us wonder whether EA has seen Sony's new memo about 'no quick ports', and more importantly, whether they 'get' the PSP platform at all.

Demon’s Souls are not so easy to play!
Demon’s Souls, the novel, must-play RPG exclusive to the PlayStation 3[Image] is difficult enough as it is. On Halloween, be prepared for it to get even harder.

Can you guess the most pirated console? ;)
In the video game industry, we hand out awards for lots of different things. Unfortunately, having your system host the largest number of pirated games is not one of them, and Sony is surely disappointed that the PSP is still at the top of that list. Despite recent efforts to create an unhackable PSP-3000, and the decision to lock out user access to the battery in the PSP Go, the distribution of pirate games remains popular.

Zombie TycoonBeware of living deads around Halloween…Frima Studio’s Zombie Tycoon is launching today as a PSPmini title in North America, Europe and Asia. The hilarious zombie horde has been released to contaminate and infest the PlayStation®Network.

Zombie Tycoon was specifically designed for the PSP minis,” commented Frima’s CEO Steve Couture. “One of the biggest minis up to this date, our zombie game will give the player several hours to build his army and achieve complete world domination… It is not a port from a mobile game, but a whole new strategy game with a lot of funny and horrifying content.”
