The best PlayStation minis

"My favourite minis title is Blast Off. I like it as the game uses only one action button and the directional buttons. All elements of the game are shown in one screen, with clear rules based on real physics, so when you fail (and you fail often!), you feel that it was your mistake. You can spend one minute with it or 30 minutes, an ideal minis game for busy people who can only have a short amount of time to play games during a hectic day. The developer has done a great job!"

PCSP — the PSP emulator written in C++ — just got updated to version 0.3.0. And wow, talk about an update. Emulating the PSP has never looked so smooth with these graphic engine (GE) improvements. Not only that — Silverfall, the first level is now playable — other titles now render textures better and often times you can get into the first stage of gameplay. Then again, many games crash and aren’t playable at all.

Ya’ll like Counter-Strike? Well here it is for your PSP… Only this one isn’t by Valve, it’s from Kevin Chen; and it’s not a first-person shooter, it’s a top-down shooter. But get this: it’s multiplayer — infrastructure style! Yessir. Get online and blast the opposing force away.

CFW 5.50 Prometheus For PSP-1000 and PSP-2000

All right, all right… Liquidzigong sharing the love for PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 (non-TA088v3) owners: no more tedious ISO patching. That’s right. You’ll need to be running CFW 5.50 GEN-D3; D2 may be compatible. Try it and leave a comment below. And no, before you even ask — this will not work with Half Byte Loader or PSPgo models.

Install 5.50 Prometheus by simply copying the extracted archive directory to ms0:/PSP/GAME and running it from the XMB, like any other homebrew. The required files to run 6.20-required games will be copied to the appropriate spot and then you’re all set. Call it 5.50 Prometheus or 5.50 GEN-D4.

Add to the list of what psardumper dumps & decrypts are PSPgo modules from firmware updates 5.70 to 6.20. You can thank coyotebean for finding these kernel keys. And before you ask: no — this does not mean ISOs for PSPgo. It’s for educational purposes and more the reverse engineering type. It’s a good thing. It opens the door to manipulating and customizing your VSH/XMB… things like that.

PSPCipher - a game patches decryption tool

Liquidzigong has cracked key tag 0?2e5e10f0. This key is commonly found in PBOOT.PBP files. Say what—PBOOT.PBP files?! Yeah PBOOT.PBP files are game patches. Now you can decrypt whatever patch, apply it to the appropriate game, and continue on keeping on.

How:

 1. Open the PBOOT.PBP file using PBP Unpacker or some similar tool.
 2. Unpack/extract DATA.PSP and PARAM.SFO.
 3. Rename DATA.PSP — which is usually encrypted with 0?2e5e10f0 — to EBOOT.BIN.
 4. Copy EBOOT.BIN to ms0:/enc and run PSPCipher like any other homebrew.
 5. Open your game ISO with WQSG_UMD.
 6. Replace EBOOT.BIN with the newly decrypted EBOOT. (If you’re using Prometheus then name it EBOOT.OLD.)
 7. Replace PARAM.SFO with the one from PBOOT.PBP.
 8. Save your ISO and try it out.
